The Samsung UN46EH6000 is Definitely Not What We May Call Picture Perfect

The Samsung UN46EH6000 is Definitely Not What We May Call Picture Perfect

Starting any review with a flaw cannot be good news for any product but we just had to get that one out of the way before we carry on. The Samsung UN46EH6000 46” LED/LCD 1080p 120Hz can be purchased online for just under $600. Let’s continue with a few positives for the UN46EH6000, just for good measure! It has a Clear Motion Rate (CMR) of 240, Wide Colour Enhancer Plus feature, a Connect Share Movie function for its USB port to view pictures, videos and music and has an operational power consumption of 50 watts and 0.3 watts when on standby. The poor quality in picture is mainly for lighter black shades and an unimpressive viewing from an angle. And, of course, Samsung seem to have forgotten what swivel technology can do to any TV stand, especially when the Samsung UN46EH6000 weighs 30.6lbs. The Samsung UN46EH6000 dimensions read 9” x 41.7” x 26.8”.

So What Do I Get For My Money?

Apart from the good stuff we already went through earlier, of course the Samsung UN46EH6000 also has Judder Reduction, for those fast-motion images, has a full range of LED backlights, a matte screen finish, 2 HDMI inputs, 1 USB input and a remote control which has too many buttons in too small a space. Space is something Samsung did not think of when designing this remote! Apart from the evidently mediocre picture quality, most of the colours display divinely and its video processing qualities are top notch. One other cool tool added to the Samsung UN46EH6000 is the Eco Sensor, which works by detecting the brightness in the room and self-adjusting the settings to find the right balance.

Colour Resolution and Power Saving Tests Reveal Plenty

When testing the Samsung UN46EH6000 for colour resolution we found the following attributes to be under-par, when compared to the competition – near-black x/y, before average colour temperature, green luminous error, 1080i de-interlacing (film). With regards to power saving the default setting on picture on resulted in a saving of 30.25 watts per year, whilst the default and calibrated settings for standby both resulted in 0.17 watts per year. This resulted in an overall saving of $6.77 per year when left on default, rather than calibrated – certainly not much to brag about, but still a saving!

A Darn Good Buy if You’re Not Expecting Fireworks

Because of modern technology taking over the world and suppliers coming up with all sorts of geeky ideas, users might start to be getting used to a TV set having every electronic appliance in the house tuned into it. Of course, in this department, our Samsung UN46EH6000 comes under some scrutiny; as it does not have a Smart TV or internet connection and has not deemed it appropriate enough to warrant 3D. Shock horror would be the reaction of the minority of geeks but we say sod all to them, if they feel that everything revolves around their TV set. We prefer the old-fashioned approach. Use an appliance for its primary intended use – anything else is a bonus, so please don’t complain!
The Samsung UN46EH6000 calibration again proved to be too much for some users, so we have again graced them with the official user guide, which they can redeem here. If you have just about torn out any remaining hairs on your head, you might consider using this. Samsung UN46EH6000 Amazon clients have also suggested disabling the motion setting as it does exactly the opposite of what it is meant to!
